He’s one prominent voice in the new generation of European improvisers. All his work have been widely acclaimed,
and beside all the achievements, was nominated one of the best five guitar players at the El Intruso – 8th, 9th,
10th,14th and 16th Annual International Critics Poll, Musician of the Year at jazz.pt Magazine and recently was
considered one of the most influential musicians of the 2010’s at the renowned Free Jazz Blog Collective.
His idiosyncratic approach to the guitar, puts him as one of the key figures of the Portuguese music scene.
After dozens of concerts and the release of the acclaimed debut album from the group, guitarist, composer and
improviser Marcelo dos Reis presents now the second record by his trio Flora, Our Time, a work that focuses on
time and his life, the changes, and what its passage makes us feel.
Our Time lives on abruptness, cuts and changes in direction, but always with an assertive and vibrant energy, which
brings us moments of infinite beauty, where avant-garde jazz, psychedelia and european improvisation meets a
universal pace that blends sonic rock and flowers of a found Africa.
