| | IC Big Band at Alchemia
Monday the 12th, eight of its members are coming together for an exclusive octet performance at Alchemia
IC Big Band is an award winning jazz ensemble based in London. The band is made up of 20 university students at Imperial College London, and, directed by Royal Academy of Music alumnus Paul Trippett, has gained an excellent reputation that is growing year on year.
Featured at last year’s London Jazz Festival, the band regularly performs in and around London, and at student venues across the country. The styles they play cover the range of big band jazz including Swing, Latin, Funk and Contemporary.
Each year the band travels abroad, with previous tours to the Czech Republic, Croatia and Germany. In 2008 they visited Romania where they performed to raise money for Hospices of Hope, appearing on national television on two occasions. In 2009 the band toured Berlin, and in 2010 China, where they performed at the World Expo in Shanghai.
IC Big Band is touring Krakow from 8th-16th September. They will be playing at a number of venues across the City, and on Monday the 12th, eight of its members are coming together for an exclusive octet performance at Alchemia, playing a vibrant mix of tunes from the songbooks of Steve Davis, John Scofield and more.
