 Jazz at Alchemia
Kris Wanders (Melbourne) is an author of several movie and theater soundtracks for Holland radio and television. In late 70s he moved to Australia where he lives and creates on the local improvised music scene.
The Best Free Jazz
Kris Wanders (Australia) - reeds
Johannes Bauer (Niemcy) - trombone
Peter Jacquemyn (Belgia) - bass
Mark Sanders (UK) - drums
Kris Wanders was one of the creators of European free jazz scene in early 60s. He had cooperated with such artists as: Charles Hurdak (tp, Hungary), Willem Breuker (reeds, Holland), Peter Brötzmann (reeds, Germany), Claude Deron (tp, Belgium), Alexander von Schlippenbach (pi, Germany Globe Unity Orchestra).
Peter Jacquemyn (Belgium) bass
Peter moves easily between the visual arts and music. As a sculptor he assaults tree trunks with axe and chainsaw. His concerts are just as spectacular: with unbridled energy he lovingly wrestles his double bass.
It is a battle in which all means are fair: bows (1, 2 or 3), dented soda cans, plastic bags, crumpled paper, mutes, horns, retuned strings...
All of this ranges Peter among Belgium's most interesting improvisers with a very justified international reputation.
Johannes Bauer (Germany) trombone
Born in 1954 in Halle; studied music in Berlin. He became a freelance improviser in 1979 and also is a leader of a number workshop bands. Bauer performed with: Manfred Schulze Bläserquintett, Ulrich Gumpert Workshop Band, „Doppelmoppel”, „Slawterhaus”, Fred van Hove Trio, Tony Oxley Orchestra, Peter Brötzmann März Combo.
