Atomic
Atomic is definitely one of the best Scandinavian free jazz bands. Often called the number one band in Scandinavia, Atomic represents modern version of "power jazz", which has its roots in American "fire music" (Archie Shepp, Albert Ayler, Ornette Coleman) and European free improvisation from 60s (Peter Brötzmann`s Machine Gun). Three Norwegians - Wiik, Håker Flaten and Nilssen-Love and two Swedish - Ljungkvist and Broo have been performing together since mid 90s. Their shows and records, a fusion of perfect musicanship of each musician, great compositions and "Brötzmann" energy, have always a very good reception in the whole world.
